Discord
Discord's terms say you must be at least 13, and the minimum age the laws where you live require. Family Center can set a monthly spending cap and a downtime schedule. It does not show message contents. The teen can disconnect the link.

On 22 Sep 2026 Discord said it estimates an age group from account signals, without reading messages. The Teen group is 13–17. That screen is still rolling out under User Settings, Account Status.
The teen shares a QR code or an invite link from their Family Center tab. Web or the app both work. They are not notified when you change a setting, and they can disconnect whenever they want. Tell them before you link.
Link Family Center, and say what you will see

You get a 7-day activity view: new friends, people they messaged or called, call time, servers, and purchase totals. You also get a weekly email. You do not see messages. The teen can disconnect the link at any time.
- Ask them to open Family Center and share the QR code or invite link. This works on the web or in the app.
- Tell them you will see who they contact and what was spent, not the words.
Set a monthly spending cap

Family Center can set a monthly spending cap. It does not cover subscriptions such as Nitro, Server Boosts, server subscriptions, or premium app subscriptions.
- Family Center, Monthly Spending cap, Edit, then Save.

Schedule downtime

Screen Time Limits in Family Center is a downtime schedule, not a daily-minutes allowance. The teen gets a notice 15 minutes before downtime starts. A daily minute cap is not documented.
- Family Center, Parental Controls, Screen Time Limits, Schedule Downtime, then Save Schedule.
- Use Apple Screen Time or Family Link if you also want a daily minute limit. Discord's own control is the schedule.
Set friend requests and server DMs

You can limit friend requests to everyone, friends of friends, or server members, and you can allow or block DMs from server members. The teen cannot change these guardian settings.
- In Family Center, set who can send friend requests.
- Set whether server members can send direct messages.

You can change message requests only if your own Discord account is in the adult age group. The teen is not told when you change it.
