Steam Families

Steam's subscriber agreement says you may not become a subscriber if you are under 13. Steam Families replaces Family View and Family Sharing. Adults and children have different roles, and a child cannot leave the family on their own.

Minimum age we could verify: 13. Under 13 cannot subscribe.

  1. Turn on parental controls for the child

    Once the child is in the family, you can limit games, the store, community, and chat, set playtime limits, see reports, and pay purchase requests yourself.

    1. Account Settings, Family Management, Manage.
    2. Expand the child, then Enable Parental controls.
    3. Set game access, store, community, and chat restrictions, and a playtime limit.
    4. Leave purchase requests so an adult pays. A child cannot leave the family on their own.
