Posts on X are public by default. Protecting the account means new followers have to be approved. This is an account setting, not a parent lock.
- Open the account together.
- Protect the posts if you do not want them public. X's help page calls this a protected account.
Turn off message requests from everyone

Anyone can be allowed to send a message request. Turning that off narrows who can start a direct message. There is no parent control that locks this.
